the Shift holding tip is very good, I use it all the time, It´s important to READ the help of the software. ALWAYS.
you need to make sure the record Icon is selected in the track sequencer window before reason will record automation on the sequencer track. its a common mistake I used to make. hope this helps.
Thanks for the ‘holding SHIFT down while selecting a rack unit’ tip. Everyone, this is a really good tip use it!
Reason why it’s good tip is because sometimes when you have a big track and lots of stuff and instruments going on, adding another rack unit (reverb, synth etc) will auto connect it to the above unit which can mess up settings and connections on other units.
I’ve been using Reason for a few years now. I’m pretty good now, getting into real mastering now! Never knew this tip
THANKS!
Hey Michael I dig your tutorial man.
I have a quick question – I want to be able to automate the “dry/wet” knob to get that cool effect from just hearing the synth syncopated and then break into the drum beat. I tried using a sequencer track, hitting record and play and turning the knob but that didn’t do it. How do you do this?
ive cracked it ,,bin messin about with reason for a few months now ,,,its the bomb ,,,good post optronix 5*
Dude thats an awesome effect. Know I finally know who made that song too. I’ve always liked hearing that tune when I saw the gieco commercial. Thanks a lot! Your videos are very helpful and informative. Keep up the good work!

First you would have to load the audio file into Recycle. (Audio file must be a wave and not mp3. If it is an mp3, convert it to wave) Second, chop it up in Recycle and “save as” a REX FILE. I say save as because you do not want to change the original audio file. Anyway, you will be able to load your REX file sample in the NN-XT or in DR Rex loop player. It will appear as a midi file ofcourse. Let me know what happens. If you are using a pc a good converter is cdex or if on a mac “switch” isgood
Hi I love your videos. Reason just has so many options and tricks and I keep learning new things all the time. Is there anyway to get your videos to be more clear? What screen capture software are you using? Is it any good?
what is a cv merger/splitter?
You need recycle (from propellorhead) bro, steal it, borrow it, buy it, whatever…converst any wave file to rex.
