We are seeking for best candidates to fill the vacant positions of :

MARINE SUPERINTENDENT

Description:
Supervising activities at the quayside, the Marine Superintendent will:
•
Develop and maintain a company Marine Operations procedure to ensure
that all marine vessels have safety management systems in line with ENS
and contractual requirements.

• Warrant efficient port operations by
opportune arrangements for berthing, craneage, forklifts and cargo
handling as well as ensuring contractor provision of service is
maintained in line with budgetary costs.
• Plan, direct and control
offshore logistic operational requirements as well as maximising vessel
utilisation and guaranteeing the financially efficient operation of the
oil fleet.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have:
• A Master Mariner Class 1 or equivalent University degree.
• A minimum of five (5) years offshore experience ideally with command experience onboard offshore supply vessels.
•
Knowledge of international maritime regulations, Ghanaian Regulatory
requirements, Maritime industry standards and EHS management systems.
• A general understanding of vessel charter market trends as well as good communication and leadership skills.

Pisang boleh halang AIDS

LONDON – Sekumpulan saintis Amerika Syarikat (AS) mendapati bahan kimia yang dinamakan BanLec dalam buah pisang didapati berkesan untuk merawat jangkitan HIV sama seperti dua jenis ubat anti-HIV semasa iaitu T-20 dan maraviroc.

BanLec merupakan sebahagian protein lektin yang banyak terdapat dalam tumbuhan, terutamanya buah pisang.

Berdasarkan penemuan itu, mereka percaya dapat menyelamatkan nyawa jutaan penghidap HIV dengan kos murah.

Penyelidik utama kumpulan berkenaan dari Universiti Michigan, Michael Swanson berkata, BanLec bertindak seperti guni yang membungkus virus HIV dan menghalangnya daripada merebak.

“Masalah sesetengah ubat anti- HIV adalah virus tersebut cepat bermutasi dan menjadi kebal, tetapi ia sukar berbuat demikian dengan kehadiran BanLec,” katanya.

Swanson kini dalam proses menghasilkan kaedah mengubah suai BanLec supaya ia sesuai untuk manusia sama ada digunakan bersendirian atau melalui kombinasi dengan ubat anti-HIV yang lain. – Agensi
